What to Expect After Submitting Your Application

As mentioned in on our How To Apply page, Namseoul GEI accepts new applicants for spring (March)  and fall (September) matriculation. However, what happens after you have submitted your application? Here is what to expect:

First, after receiving your application the Global Education Institute will contact you via email to confirm they have received your paperwork and let you know if any changes or additional information is needed. You will need to reply with any changes or additional requests for information in a timely and appropriate manner to keep your application on track.

Second, after your paperwork has been finalized you will wait for notification of your Namseoul Graduation School Admissions Interview. All GEI graduate students are required to complete a graduate school interview without exception. Overseas applicants will be required to do the interview via video Skype.  Applicants will need to ensure that they have access to a video-capable phone or computer as well as a solid wifi or data connection. Applicants living in Korea will be scheduled for in-person interviews on the Namseoul campus at the Global Education Institute offices. If you live more than an hour from campus, you may request consideration for a video Skype interview. If you work during the week, you may request consideration for a Saturday interview. Interviews are conducted in English by two members of the Global Education Institute staff. You will be asked a variety of questions based on your application and intent to study. Interview questions are not given in advance.

Third, after the end of the Namseoul Graduate School Admissions Week, both denied and accepted students will be contacted via email with the decision of the Namseoul Graduate School. Due to the fact Namseoul Global Education Institute MIT and MIS degrees are growing quickly and competition for placement in the program increases each year, admission is not guaranteed.

Fourth, after you have been accepted into the MIT or MIS you will receive an email concerning the initial tuition and fees. (Click here to read  more about Tuition and Fees) Payment will be due within 2-3 weeks of acceptance. Your tuition and fees will be due promptly in order to guarantee your place in the program. If you are scholarship students, you will pay for the program upfront and refunded your tuition at the end of the semester assuming you have above a 3.0 GPA.
Fifth, now that you have been accepted and confirmed you will need to register for classes. This will be coordinated by the Namseoul GEI Staff and you will be notified by e-mail of your courses and schedule.

**Each new group of students is also be required to complete a required GEI Orientation Day. Orientation dates and schedules vary based on a variety of factors but usually happen during the week. Orientation may begin the week before or after classes begin due issues around student visa processing times. During orientation, students will learn about things like the library, dining facilities (closed on weekends), pool & gym access (students discounts offered), required meetings with Student Advisors (these are mandatory), and much more. If you can not attend orientation you must have permission from the GEI office.
